Our Mission
The Intelligent Radio and Integrated Systems (IRIS) Laboratory at HKUST develops enabling physical-layer technologies for next-generation wireless and satellite communications.
Our research advances RF circuits and systems, antenna arrays, signal processing, and test and measurement through hardware-aware, system-level design, with the goal of enabling practical, high-performance communication systems.
Highlights
Our Research
Explore our work on physical-layer technologies for next-generation wireless and satellite communications, spanning RF front ends, antenna arrays, digital signal processing, and test and measurement.
See our researchOur Team
Our members develop a strong system-level understanding of RF technologies and gain hands-on experience that prepares them for careers in academia and industry.
Meet our teamOpportunities
Join a growing research group working at the forefront of next-generation RF systems. IRIS welcomes undergraduate students, prospective postgraduate researchers, and collaborators from academia and industry.
Join usOur Approach
IRIS brings together RF circuit design, antenna engineering, signal processing, and test and measurement rather than treating them as isolated research areas. We study the interactions between hardware, algorithms, and the propagation environment and use them to guide the design and optimization of the complete RF system.
Our work combines analytical modeling, circuit and electromagnetic design, signal processing, hardware prototyping, and experimental validation.
Training the Next Generation
IRIS is committed to educating the next generation of researchers and engineers for leadership in academia and industry.
At IRIS, team members engage in the full research cycle, from theory and design to prototyping and experimental validation. This experience equips graduates with deep technical expertise, strong experimental capability, and a system-level understanding of advanced communication systems.
